American Dynamics 1650
Video Switcher Course
SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES originally
developed the American Dynamics Model 1650 Video Switcher Course as a custom course
offering to one of our clients. Now, it is available to all sites which have this
equipment. The course provides an overview of the switching system, cameras, amplifiers,
loss of video equipment, monitors, and control path equipment (PTZ units and keyboards.)
The course is highly customized, covering only those modules and configurations which
are present in your system. The course is a combination of lecture and discussion.
Extensive use of visual aids is incorporated to further enhance comprehension and which
serve as valuable reference material later.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- You will learn the function and location of each major component of the video switching
subsystem, and how these components are interconnected.
- You will learn the location of each adjustment point in the system and how to perform
all field adjustment procedures.
- You will learn how the video switching system is configured, to permit expansion and
reconfiguration, and to facilitate troubleshooting.
- You will learn how to isolate and correct faults, and restore the system to full
operation.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is designed for engineers and technicians who are responsible for
maintenance and repair of the video switching subsystem. Students should have a good
background in digital electronics and be familiar with the operation of common test
instruments. Familiarity with communications and video technology is a plus.
TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE

- Practical troubleshooting procedures and in-class problem solving exercises
REFERENCE MATERIAL
Each student is provided with a comprehensive technical manual which includes a block
diagram of the video switching subsystem, and copies of all visual aids used in the
lecture, along with installation and operation manuals on each piece of equipment in the
system.
