| Product(s) Affected: | COMTROL 1 Modem CM-500K |
| Model or Part Number(s): | 30-0002-1 |
| Release Date: | May 18, 1995 |
| Subject: | Revision H Upgrade |
Versions of the CM-500K modem for COMTROL 1 systems, part number 30-0002-1, prior to Revision G are not meeting published specifications with regard to transmitter output and receiver sensitivity. This could cause a high number of communication errors and excessive reconfigurations, as well as other problems, on systems where the loop length is near the maximum (10,000 feet or more of RG-11U coaxial cable.)
SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES has released Revision H of the modem. This revision incorporates several hardware changes which boosts transmitter output to the published specification of 2 volts peak-to-peak minimum, lowers the squelch level to increase receiver sensitivity, and reduces receive jitter. Also, a change has been incorporated which brings the mark and space frequencies closer to their ideal values.
It is recommended that all modems at a site which do not incorporate these changes be upgraded at the next regularly scheduled Preventive Maintenance cycle. (SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES recommends that all CM-500K modems installed at a site be rotated out for recalibration every 2 years.)
SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES upgrades all modems sent to us for repair and/or recalibration automatically as part of the flat rate repair cost.
The upgrade is automatic when a CM-500K modem is sent to SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES for repair or recalibration. The flat rate repair cost is $ 275.00 per modem. Simply arrange to ship the modems to SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES by calling our Customer Service Department at (508) 475-1032 for a Return Material Authorization number. You will be quoted a delivery date at that time. A hard copy purchase order will be required before return shipment can occur.
