| Product(s) Affected: | COMTROL 1 Common Logic Board |
| Model or Part Number(s): | 30-0001 Revision K |
| Release Date: | October 26, 1988 (Originally released by COMPUTROL) |
| Subject: | Hardware Revision L |
A problem has been found in Rev. K versions of the COMTROL 1 Remote Multiplexer Common Logic board, or "CDI", part number 30-0001. The I.C. which drives the backplane timing signals ORLD and OCE*, also drives the backplane clock CS0 on Rev K versions of the board. Due to problems in the physical layout of the board artwork, there is significant crosstalk between these signals within the chip itself, causing noise on the ORLD and OCE* signals. This problem is especially noticeable in heavily loaded card cages.
COMPUTROL has released Revision L of this board, which solves the noise problem by moving the clock driver gate to another I.C., and improving the power supply wiring and decoupling on the ORLD and OCE* driver I.C.
It is recommended that all Revision K boards be upgraded to Revision L. As an interim step, all Rev. K boards should be replaced with Rev. J.
