| Subject: | Firmware Revision A1 and Hardware Revision C1 |
A problem has been discovered in Revision A and earlier 30-0121 Multi-level Supervised Input Modules. This problem involves the detection ranges for normal, access, and supervision alarm conditions. The problem exists in -2 versions of the board only.
The detection ranges for the board are such that it is possible to place certain values of resistance across the lines, without causing the board to detect a "tamper", then open switch S1 without the board detecting the access. Also, it is possible to open switch S1, then ground the low side of the line. This will cause the board to think the switch has been closed, when in fact it hasn't.
COMPUTROL has corrected this problem by tightening up the detection range table, and by changing the value of resistor R-19 on the board from a 2.49 K ohm, 1/4 watt, 1% resistor to a 1.27 K ohm, 1/4 watt, 1% resistor. Implementing this fix may require re-calibration of the board's current source. The firmware revision for all versions of the 30-0121 should be Revision A1 or later.*
This firmware revision also incorporates the fix for the "out-of-sequence" problem. Refer to Field Technical Bulletin # 4 for a description of this problem.*
| * NOTE: | SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES has since released other firmware revisions for the 30-0121 Multi-level Supervised Input Module. Please check the other FTBs on this site for later releases and updated information. |
It is recommended that all boards be upgraded as soon as practical. There are three alternative approaches to implementing the Revision A1 firmware update:
To have SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES repair, test and update the modules as necessary, contact Customer Service for a Return Material Authorization number. Have available the part number of the module to be repaired and upgraded, and the quantity.
To order individual copies of the firmware, or to order a site license, please use the following part numbers:
