This procedure describes how to test the 30-0121-2 Multi-level Supervised Input Module Revision C. The purpose of this document is to allow field maintenance personnel to verify the correct installation of the Revision C2 update to the board, and to verify its proper operation.
If the documents described in this section are available on-line, they will be represented by a hypertext link, which you can click to go immediately to the referenced document.
If they are represented by plain text, then the document is not (yet) available in our on-line library, and must be obtained from SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES. Schematic diagrams are proprietary, and will not be available on-line.
| 1. | 90-0121-004 | Field Rework Instructions, 30-0121-2 Update to Rev. C2 |
| 2. | 90-0121-005 | Field Adjustment Procedure, 30-0121 Current Source |
| 3. | 90-0121-002 | Interface Specification, 30-0121-2 Multi-level Supervised Input Module |
| 1. | (1) | Suitable training or test system, or other means of polling the 30-0121-2 in an interactive, real time manner (If such a system is not available, contact SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES for information on sending the units to us for testing) |
| 2. | (1) | Field termination connector (Viking 3VH36/1JN5 or equivalent) |
| 3. | (1) | Resistance decade box with a 1% or better tolerance (if a decade box is not available, precision 1% resistors of the specified values may be substituted) |
| 4. | (2) | Test leads with hook type or mini alligator clips |
| 5. | (1) | 30-0121 board to be adjusted |
| 1. | Power off the card cage which will be used to power the board under test. |
| 2. | Select a FIM address which is actively polled by the host computer. Set this FIM address on the board to be tested. For further information on FIM addressing, refer to document No. 90-0121-002, Interface Specification, 30-0121-2 Multi-level Supervised Input Module. |
| 3. | Install the board to be tested in the card cage, ensuring that there are no other FIMs in the card cage which are occupying the same address. Also, be sure to observe COS polling requirements for FIM placement. For further information on COS polling, refer to document No. 90-0121-002, Interface Specification, 30-0121-2 Multi-level Supervised Input Module. |
| 4. | Plug the field termination connector (item 2) onto the field termination edge connector on the outside edge of the board to be tested. Using the test leads (item 4) attach the resistance decade box (item 3) between pins B1 and A1 on the field termination connector. |
| 5. | Power on the card cage. Verify that the two red LEDs on the front edge of the board to be tested are illuminated steadily. If they are not, the board is not functioning properly. Check all installation steps, and review all the steps of this procedure. If the problem cannot be identified, then the board is defective and must be repaired. Contact SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES for information on returning boards to us for repair. If both LEDs are illuminated steadily, proceed to step 6. |
| 6. | Allow the board to sit with power applied for at least five (5) minutes before attempting any tests. |
Set the resistance decade box to each of the resistance values listed below. The computer will provide the associated indication for the first point address on the board.

If errors are encountered, perform the current source adjustment procedure, document number 90-0121-005, and retest. If the above indications cannot be achieved, then the board is defective and must be repaired.
