SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES sells, maintains, and supports several lines of products which are used in nuclear and industrial security, industrial networking applications, and other data communications applications that require high speed communication over long distances in noisy environments.

These products fall into three major categories:

Multiplexer Products

The multiplexer products that SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES supports are high speed systems used to gather data from remote locations in the plant or campus site, and feed that data to a central computer over high speed coaxial cable communication links.

The primary applications for these systems are in commercial nuclear security systems, government (DOE) facilities, and large corporate or plant security systems. They also find application in industrial data monitoring and control systems.

Megalink™ Products

Megalinks are proprietary networking cards that plug directly into the backplanes of various computer types and provide high speed, DMA transfers of data between the connected computer systems.

These products found applications prior to the arrival of Ethernet connectivity for all types of computers. They allowed computers of different hardware platforms and operating systems to communicate at high speed over coaxial cable and fiber optic networks.

Applications included connecting IC test equipment to a host PDP-11, interconnecting data monitoring sites on a mile-long linear particle accelerator, and interconnecting riveting machines on automotive assembly lines.

Megalink platforms which are still supported are Q-Bus and UNIBUS. Click on the appropriate links for product listings and specifications.

Modem and Repeater Products

The asynchronous FSK and twisted pair modems that SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES supports are an outgrowth of the multiplexer and Megalink product lines. They were used by OEM manufacturers and system integrators when no standard platform existed that could accommodate a Megalink product.

Applications include graphics terminal communications, networks for industrial equipment such as PLCs and robots, transmitting turnpike toll collection data to central computers, and transmitting data from oil fields in the deserts of the Middle East.

SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES offers modems which can transmit at speeds of up to 1 Megabits per second over coaxial and twisted pair cabling.
